Website: Athlete Bios

?

To piggy-back off of Ryan M’s comment to the picture idea, I think it would be great for each member to have their own bio page with pictures and stats (like a CrossFit version of ”Facebook”)that can be accessed through the main site.

One of the best aspects of Crossfit is the community, and this would make it easier for everyone to become familiar with each other. Just names and pictures would be cool, but bring it next level, you could add a section where athletes can enter their personal best performances and other information about themselves–similar to the bios on the Crossfit Games site.

Section on website to post and compare times

?

It’s always nice to see how you rank amongst your peers even if you didn’t do the workout on the same day. It’d be nice to be able to search a workout by name or movement, maybe filter by age group or gender and have people’s times and weights listed.

Open Gym

?

Open gym either by itself or following a shorter workout– like the ones that only take between 4-15 minutes. :)

Weekly strength work

?

At my old box, 3x / week we would do a strength component (squat, dead, press, clean, snatch, and jerk) at the beginning of class before shorter WODs. It really helps getting our core movements stronger and is great for tracking progress as well. A great time to do this is at the beginning of class when we go over the key movement for our workout that day. I would love to do a 3×5 strength movement while the coaches go around and critique us on our form on a more individual level. Then go into the WOD. This knocks out two birds with one stone: allows the coaches to evaluate our form and technique and gives us a chance to get stronger in these critical crossfit movements.

Skills WOD

?

I’d like some extra help on certain skills, like HSPU, Double Unders, Muscle Ups, and Kipping Pull-ups. Would it be possible to use the Weds WOD (the non-strength one) to sometimes have a skill building part in the morning? Maybe some extra help on one of these?

Mobility WODs

?

How about a mobility class a few times a week after the WODs? A lot of us go elsewhere for yoga and I’m sure the extra stretching/rolling would do everyone good.

7:15 Class

?

For someone who works in the area, having a 7:15 class would be ideal. I know that’s for the intro courses, but just sayin…

Early Class

?
5:30am and 6:30am have been added to the schedule on M-W-F. We will monitor how this affects the attendance and make further changes/additions if necessary.

I know the 6AM team asked us 6AM’ers if we’d like an earlier class. I would prefer a 5:30 or a 5:45 class. Preferably 5:30 am. Trust me, the extra 15 to 30 min makes up a lot of time in the morning commute.

Nutrition

?

I would like to continue to have a forum to discuss nutrition and work on nutrition goals with my fellow Guerrillas regardless of specific diet and/or goals. Suzy had what I thought was a great idea, a few days ago, which entailed interested parties forming a group on a nutritional logging site (like myfitnesspal.com) where we would could all continue to see each other’s progress, encourage each other, etc. Additionally, her suggestion was to set up a separate nutrition board here so we could all toss ideas, questions, and recipes around. So, really, this is Suzy’s idea, but I’m like 200% amped up about it because I’m a certified ditz when it comes to nutrition. I’m sure the board would pretty much run itself but maybe some more learned folks/coaches could moderate without a huge time commitment?

WOD diversity

?

I have researched several other Crossfit gyms around the country and world. It seems that many have more diverse WOD’s and even some exercises I have never seen at Guerrilla. It would be nice to see on occasion some diversity to the WOD
Also maybe a group stretch/warmup of 5 minutes or so before the workouts start.

8pm classes every night of the week

?

When I started at the Montclair box a year ago, we had 8pm classes despite the foundations class going on at the same time. I think it would be great to bring those back, as there are often days when I have to be at work at 7am and can’t take a train home until 6pm, meaning I miss every single WOD that day. If there was an 8pm every weekday, I wouldn’t miss so many days. Plus, the 5, 6 and 7pm classes are filling up like crazy lately, more late class times = less people getting shut out of classes.

Weekly WOD list

?

It would be great to see the WOD for the whole week. Maybe you can post a Weekly WOD link on the main page and that way people can go in and checkout the Wkly WOD. This way you might even have less cancellations too. Because if people are excited about certain type of workout they most likely to show up.

Buy in/ cash out

?

How about having buy ins and/or cash outs.

These are brief periods before or after a WOD when you do a little extra work. They are a great way to practice skill work, i.e., double unders and ring dips. Or they are also good to add that bit of push at the end of a short intense WOD. I have seen some sort of run or rowing for example.

Guerrilla vs "a box"

?

The Guerrilla v Guerrilla was great (even though I wasn’t there). As crossfit is a great community, and Guerrilla has given birth to other boxes (ACT, Brazen, etc…), it would be cool to set up friendly weekend competitions with some other area boxes. It might give some incentive for people to train a little harder for something. Also maybe a place to post competitions like Hybrid Strongman, local 5K races, Tough Mudders and others. An opportunity to do something as a team with all this fitness.

Lockers

?

It would be very cool to have small, compact lockers either in the office or box…I realize space has to be practical but we all have a lot of crossfit gear (protein shakes, jump ropes, wrist wraps, tape, etc etc)

I know I would definately want one and I’d pay a few bucks to get it.

GF FUEL (Food / Nutrition)

?

Quinoa?
Quin-what?

While I’m aware that there was a late 2011 initiative regarding Nutrition, I think it would be unbelievably helpful to have a class once a month about food, eating, pre-WOD, during, post/recovery and general ideas to consider for beginner level to Uber.

We have a family in GF.
We care for the mechanics.
We care for the mindset.
Hydrate or die, sure… but there’s a world outside the confines of the GF red-star that we should care for in how we eat.

Even if we met on a weekend for an hour, had a place to share recipes/tips/tricks, portion control, workout in the morning – what should I pack for the office.

I’d gladly pay $20-$30 a month to get in on the action, learn, and share. New topics, questions, personal tips, scientific reasoning, who knows – even if people make/bake/bring in samples.. beats staring at pictures on the internet and double tapping pictures of avocado and quinoa on Instagram or twitter.

Two tanks?

?
We are exploring different ideas to comment for box-specific suggestions.

Do we need two separate idea tanks for the two boxes? They could be viewable by both so we can learn from each other, but it seems like there are some box-specific issues coming up

Let's RECYCLE!!

?
Our garbage collection company takes all garbage commingled and separates it. Done for cardboard, glass and pastic

It would be great if we had a recycling can, since the trash can is mostly full of plastics.
