Took 2 (count 'em!) TWO rest days. As for the party, had an awesome time with everyone. As was probably obvious, love to dance, and will do w/o a partner, self-consciousness, or measurable alcohol intake. I DID make an awesome playlist though held in reserve, so maybe post WOD on some Friday night, instant dance party? :)
Back to it today--135 PP 3x5, 14:23.

B) to any of those folks from the 5:30 last night inquiring about the hand protectors I was wearing: I dug deep into my forgetful brain to recall where i got them to no avail. However, if you google gymnastic grips you will be provided with a variety of locations to purchase them.

"Just wanted to stop by and say thank you for the inspiration bro. 5 years ago i was involved in a near fatal motorcycle accident. which left my body all messed up. i was perfectly health 260lbs, in shape and had a career in corrections and that all was taken away from me. But I am doing great now and from time to time i look at ur pics of u working out and get amped to get back to the way i used to b. Now im back in the gym heavy and shocking myself everyday as to how much i can still do and how strong i am now and getting even stronger. So thanx bro for giving me the motivation to get back in the best of shape. God bless u and i hope all is well with u..."
It felt good to receive this letter. It reminded me that we live in relation to others. And what we do has influence on others so it may as well be positive. Remember, when you wod day in and day out, and your hard work pays off, people are payng attention to you. You may be giving them the spark they need to may a positive change in their lives.

BEN!! I just got to watch that video from yesterday. I LOVED IT!! When I was getting ready for my first tri this past weekend, I was pouring over last year's results trying to analyze who I could draft off of in the swim, where I placed last year, where I could pick up time, etc. I e-mailed my CFE coach, Max Wunderle about all this and this is what he wrote in response:
"Chase her [someone I planned to draft off of in the swim] or anyone else you can hang onto in the swim...as for the rest of your race, ignore everyone and just get in the pain cave and hold on as long as you can. Stop rationalizing your fitness and simply race with everything you've got..that's all we can ask..." It resonated with me as this amazingly simple yet freeing advice for EXACTLY the reason that ad speaks to -- the race is about your response in the face of pain, nothing more and nothing less! You can have all the best stats in the world but what do you so when the pain comes? Do you face it head on or do you let it scare you and back off so you don't have to feel it? In the last two miles of the race, I kept saying to myself, "This is just like a WOD, keep pushing, keep pushing."
Lately because of various stresses in my life, I know there have been many workouts where I have not pushed it as hard as I could. No more. No matter the stress or other crap in your life, when you give everything you have to these workouts, for at least those 5 to 30 minutes, all else fades away and you touch greatness.
P.S. The song in that ad is awesome to run to. I have it on my ipod. It's from the Friday Night Lights soundtrack if anyone is interested.
