If you have a fairly consistent 3×5 number you’ll work up to ~90% of that number for your first 2 work sets of 5 reps. The last set is the same weight again but for max reps.
Not sure what your 3×5 is? No problem. Work up to a challenging weight, but one that you know you have a few reps left in the tank for your first 2 sets of 5.
Exceeding 12-15 reps in your last set would indicate that you started a bit too light. Data point to record for next time!
