Guerrilla Fitness Morristown is a sponsoring member of the 2012 Morristown ART AROUND THE PARK.

Morristown is known as the Military Capital of the American Revolution, the Birth Place of the Telegraph, a Society Center for the nation’s Millionaires at the turn of the century, and home to the Seeing Eye. Morristown however, has never been known as an Arts District. That is until now.

Wikipedia defines arts district as a demarcated urban area, usually on the periphery of a city center, intended to create a ‘critical mass’ of places of cultural consumption - such as art galleries, dance clubs, theaters, art cinemas, music venues and public squares for performances. It is usually associated with allied service - industry jobs like cafes, fashion outlets, and restaurants.

Conceived and organized by Harry and Mary Ellen Simon of Simon Gallery, ART AROUND THE PARK is a free self guided art walk that offers the public the opportunity to view art at six venues in proximity to Morristown’s historic Green.

Through partnerships, forged with local businesses that have opened their doors as exhibition spaces during their normal business hours, visitors to Morristown are able to see at least two exhibits every day of the week and all seven exhibits four days a week.

On Friday, September 14, 2012 from 5 - 8 pm the current edition of ART AROUND THE PARK opens with a walk beginning at any of the exhibition spaces:

Gallery at 14 Maple - 14 Maple Ave.,
Hyatt Morristown’s eclectic Grill - 3 Speedwell Ave.,
J&K Steakhouse 56 South St., Simon Gallery - 48 Bank St.,
Sweet Lucy’s Bakery - 56A South St.

Free shuttle bus service runs the entire evening, stopping at the front door of each show ending up at Hyatt Morristown where a three course prix fixe (25.00) family style dinner is served at the eclectic Grill. Call Maggie Mahoney @ 973.647.1234 for reservations.
