I love the choose your own adventure idea. Hard decision, do what is fun vs. what I desperately need, but I seriously can’t wait for this!

I agree with Mark…its going to be a tough decision, but fun was hell.

BTW Grace is a serious bad-ass. Bad-ass back in her days at SHY and still representing…keep kicking ass and taking names Grace.

There is actually a third adventure…Coach Pete’s Big Adventure. Where will it take us…he doesn’t even know. But I guaranty we will be riding sweet bikes, swinging over aligator pits, and dancing on a bar singing Tequila!!

This is a no brainer for me…endurance, endurance, endurance…I don’t know when it happened, maybe when I hit 35, but ever since then I have had the speed and endurance of a turtle. WTF happened to me!?!?! Anyway, I like this concept and look forward to getting punsihed by endurance WOD’s…great idea coaches!

i think this is a great idea, although I’m not really looking forward to it. But, I will take on my archnemesis — the running-endurance monster…

    the monster will be defeated…..

Love this idea for April! I need significant improvement in both strength and speed. I equally enjoy practicing both and I am at my wits end with a schedule that is hindering my CrossFit consistency and gains.

Here’s how I will decide – I have a one hour layover in Sao Paulo on Saturday on my way home (and I CANNOT wait to return). I will be running clear across the airport and through the lines with significant carry on baggage. When I get to the gate, I will decide whether I am more winded or muscle fatigued…then I will choose the alligator pits and tequila (paleo right?).

As a big dumb animal, I think I’m obligated to choose strength.
That and I have a very clear map of my CF goals and know which one will get me where I want to be.

Not gonna lie, I’m not really digging this choose your own adventure idea.. I enjoy crossfit because of the type of randomness it provides… one day we are focusing on our 1RM Deadlifts, the next day we do Bradley. I don’t know about anyone else but I have been LOVING the programming the last few months. I could always count on the programming to include either a hero wod or a standard wod every week along with a few surprises here and there… With this new choose your own adventure April, I hope we don’t lose that bit of randomness….

Personally, I want to work and focus on both strength and endurance, so forcing me pick one and sticking with it for the month is going to be tough.

Maybe i’m the oddball here and I don’t like change, but who knows?

I know what you mean Dennis, but there are times when you need to focus on a single aspect of CrossFit in order to get better overall. The definition of CrossFit includes three categories…Weightlifting, Endurance and Gymnastics. Thinking about it like a triangle. By focusing on one part will strength the other three. However, spending too much time in one area will skew your triangle, so you have to balance it out by then focusing on another aspect of the triangle. Use this new programing and opportunities to strength weakness and making your overall triangle bigger.

I agree with Dennis. The programming has been fantastic and I love the diversity in what we do. So we can make a better decision on what to pick, could K or the other coaches give us a little more insight into what the metcon’s will look like. For example, if you pick endurance and everyday you start with a running or rowing WOD will the short metcons afterwards also have running and rowing or not? Thanks!

great discussion and thoughts today guys! thanks to everyone for their comments, concerns etc

this is a great opportunity to learn and dig deeper into what is behind the programming. good Crossfit programming is never “random”, it is varied. random programming would produce less results at best and injuries at worst.

this new month of programming is not being outsourced, it is being programmed and decisions are being made by the same great minds that have brought you the last four months. trust in your coaches and the gym, we will not lead you astray! we only want what is best and most effective for our athletes!

keep in mind that it is also only for a month. the strength or endurance piece will be first and then everyone will perform the metcon together afterwards.

Dennis – your words to me after 12.3 were “I need to get stronger”….there’s your answer my friend! enjoy!

I love adventures!! My initial thought was endurance but now I’m thinking strength…Maybe I’ll flip a coin? Could definitely benefit from either of these :)

Endurance for me, absolutely! (though I will hate every minute of it). I agree with you Dennis and I love the varied programming, though I am sure that the metcons will still give us that same great variety and an opportunity to maintain and improve our strength. The added “adventure” piece will just help the piece of the triangle (as Pete put it) that we decide to focus on.

Either way, it’s fun to try something different! Bring it on!
