GF Morristown - New check in & class sign up.

New check in location

Starting today, Monday 10/17, the office at Morristown will be your first stop at Guerrilla Fitness.  Please check in at the office and leave all of your personal belongings in the cubbies before heading to the gym.

New class sign up policy

In an effort to give our members the best of service, we are instituting a mandatory class reservation system in Mindbody.  This will give our members the opportunity to reserve classes in advance.  This will also give us the ability to control class size, which will be an important benefit for our members.  Mandatory advance reservations for classes will be required for all members effective November 1, 2011.  In the meantime, however, please start practicing signing in now so that you get used to the process and the system.  Please contact [email protected] if you have any questions.

Thank You!

So if someone paid for 5 days a week and constantly gets shut out of 3 of their classes, how does this effect their monthly cost? I probably should email Tom as well but these questions are going to have to be answered for all members to see.

This is going to sound negative…which is why I am going to ponder this before hitting the “post comment” button but in the end its going to come off as negative no matter what. The word “mandatory” has lots of negative connotations nowadays (or maybe its always been that way). I am wondering…

    1) what is considered a “full/closed” class for Morristown?
    2) if an athlete shows up without having made a reservation…then what?
    3) if an athlete reserves a day & then doesnt show up…or shows up at a different time…then what?
    4) is Morristown getting close to the point where class sizes are such that “displacement” of members to other time slots is an inevitability?
    5) I’ve noticed Montclair athletes post about weekend times (classes being closed, being on the waiting list, etc). Montclair folks, how do you find the reservation process?

Whether its paycheck or a spot at the watering hole…life is a constant struggle for resources…so I guess “mandatory reservations” leaves me thinking “stay away from my spot” (ROAR)

And of course now I notice I should have emailed Tom for all that info.

    Cheers!

LOL!! Hey there Steve… Just answering your question “Montclair folks, how do you find the reservation process?” :: It’s not bad at all… Its kind of becoming a ’2nd nature’ kind of thing… Just log in on a Sunday and reserve all your classes for the week and *VOILA* you’re done… In the case where you can’t make a class, just log back in to cancel or call the gym and give them a ‘heads up’…
Don’t worry Steve… it’s not as bad or inconvenient as it may seem..

    This is from Montclair:
    1) Limited to 20 per class at Montclair.
    2) Usually depends on the workout (number of rowers, boxes, etc)
    3) You can cancel for the time you registered for. If you don’t a spot is wasted for someone else.
    4) Don’t know.
    5) Has be pain free. Ive never had to skip a day because of registration.

    Hi all,

Sorry I missed meeting everyone on Saturday. Other Montclair people can chime in but I don’t think the sign in system has been a problem. Things have a way of working out. The only class where people seemed not to get a spot was the new Sunday class and the response was to add another class!

It is understandable that people have questions but for the sake of saving you unnecessary stress, you might find that the things you are worried about will not arise, and if they do, that Gregg and Karianne will address them promptly and to your satisfaction. You may even find you like the new system — i.e. you can see which classes will be less crowded, you can plan your week ahead of time, etc.

    Just my two cents.

Hey all! We will be answering all of your questions. However, this is a system that has been working at montclair without issues of members not being able to fulfill their weekly class membership.

Also, there are only a few class times that are at capacity and potentially forcing people into an earlier or a later slot. As the need for more classes, we are always adding as the need arises. We have now added 2 Sunday classes that will provide additional workout opportunities throughout the week.

We have te next two weeks to practice sign ins and for all of you to experiment with the commitment to classes. We have no doubts this will be a smooth transition and only add value to your experience!

We welcome questions here but also email Tommy for detailed questions and answers.

The office will always be locked or guarded by a coach. It’s merely an attempt to get bags, sweatshirts, boots and coats as we move into the colder months etc. off of the gym floor. It also offers an opportunity to have a more relaxing exit where you can all chat and take your time leaving instead of whispering and being whisked away because the next class is rolling in. Community!

All classes are capped at 20 people with a waitlist. If athletes do show up to a class with open spots without signing in before hand, we can sign them in on the office computer. However, while this is a possibility, it is not recommended as classes can and will fill up. Signing in takes 2 minutes and ensures a spot in the class. This is exactly why we are giving everyone ample time to practice and get in the habit! When signing up for a class, you will register for a specific class, not a day, so showing up for a different time slot shouldn’t be an issue (i.e. 10/17/11 9:30AM WOD). If athletes reserve a class time and can not make the class, it is expected that as a member of this community and out of respect for everyone else, they will remove themselves from the class. In this case, the first person on the waitlist will then automatically take their spot.

If you have any additional questions, feel free to ask!

    Hey,

What happens if you register for say 6:00 PM WOD, then get caught up at work, but want to make the 7:00 PM WOD, ideally you would change it online, but what if you don’t have computer access during that time?

And with any instance, do you ever get penalized if you registered, but suddendly could not show up? Or- what happens if you are on the waitlist and get added too last minute that you can’t make it? Basically, is there any minimum requirement on how late you can cancel?

I love the idea of keeping a manageable class size, but I hate the idea of not being able to go when I want and not having the flexibility to change since my work often unpredictably keeps me late! I’ll figure it out… just want to understand the whole system- thanks!

If you can’t make it to the class, just call the gym and they’ll cancel your reservation for you. There’s no minimum to how late you can cancel.

I’ve been using MindBody since day 1 of being a member and have never gotten shut out of a class I knew I wanted to go to days in advance. Only once in over 5 months did I wake up in the morning and try to change my Saturday 9am reservation to Saturday 11am to find that it was full, and I didn’t bother with the wait list. Like everyone said before, this is rarely an issue in Montclair, and I highly doubt it will be one in Morristown. Don’t sweat it! :)

Suggestions for owners: I have been a member at a spinning studio and a yoga studio, both offer the option to pay for a single class (most expensive) and a package of classes (the more you purchase, the greater the discount); This worked out well for members that travel for business and/or have hectic schedules as opposed to paying for X number of classes per week.
I currently am on a 2 classes per week plan, but have been traveling every week in October. I would love to make up the classes I am missing (yet paying for) but have been told that will not longer be able to bank classes.
I hope that there is an amicable solution because I would love to continue with cross while being gainfully employed!
